In addition to our yoga classes in South Jersey, our gyms offer a number of other exciting group fitness options. This month we’re looking at a class that has grown in popularity immensely over the past several years – spin class.

Spin class is relatively straightforward. Exercisers get on a bike and follow the pace and signals of their instructors for a workout that always results in a good sweat. Spin is one of the purest examples of how a group fitness class provides encouragement for a better workout. There’s plenty of cardio equipment to use in our Cherry Hill gym or any of our other locations, but many prefer to pedal with a dozen or more exercisers.

 

Here are a few reasons to sign up for a spin class in the near future.

 

Cardio – Pushing those pedals for 30 minutes or more is a great way to improve cardiovascular health. Long-time participants see improved cardiovascular health and lower body fat percentages as a result of regularly scheduled spin classes.

 

Low Impact – While giving you the exercise-related benefits of running, spinning is considerably lower impact. Your knees, ankles and hips will thank you for the reduced strain.

 

Motivation – Being surrounded by others who want to push just as hard as you do is a great way to inspire your workout. Instructors are often-high energy, asking you to give your all and do as much as you can. Compared with solo workouts, this is a definite plus.

 

Different Levels of Difficulty – While you may be tempted to try and keep up with the spinning veteran in your class, you don’t have to. You can work at your individual pace in a class and find the instructor that’s most suited to your pace and style of cardio.

 

No Frills, Minimal Coordination – Kickboxing, yoga and barre can require a level of coordination to get through those particular classes. That level of coordination is certainly achievable but can be a little daunting for those new to classes. Spin requires simpler movements and a significantly more relaxed difficulty curve.
